Being a Black Sheep
Spoiler Alert: Being Labeled a “Black Sheep” is not a bad thing.
I know some of you out there have been “rejected” by your friends and family, and it hurts! Sometimes, you feel like no one on the planet gets you, and you just want to curl up in your closet and cry. Yes, “Closet Crying” is a real thing and a topic for another day.
Perhaps you’ve always been the black sheep of your family, or maybe this is a new title that has been recently assigned to you by others. Along with this label usually comes a few other designations: batshit crazy, nutter than Aunt Thelma’s fruit cake, lunatic, unhinged, etc. Do any of those sound familiar?
Know that the pain and discomfort you are feeling is just your human grasping onto the pain of “rejection” and “abandonment” to try and get you to follow your programming and remain part of your tribe. Your human is just trying to still fit in, and there is a level of fear that keeps you from shedding those layers and really being in alignment with your True Self.
I lived for years, okay decades, being afraid of showing people who I really am, being my True Self, allowing my uniqueness to shine, and being unapologetically a disruptor. So, I totally understand the suffering and agony you may be feeling.

The conditioning and programming are fierce and relentless. When you start to veer from your tribe, you will be “rejected.” For example, if it’s been a family tradition to attend a religious service, but through your own study, this is no longer in alignment with your True Self, and you decide not to attend this year. Oh, Krishna on a Cracker, you will get an earful, and some family members will try to shame and/or guilt trip you to get you “back in line.”
Embark on Your Hero Journey
But you have a choice. You can continue to follow all the conditioning and programming of your family, friends, and community, or you can question everything. You can decide to set out on your own Hero’s Journey and shed all the bullsh*t programming that is holding you back. No one forces you to take this path. However, if you do, be ready for some drama and manipulation from others.
Yes, there will be ups and downs on your journey, but once you’ve shed enough of your bullsh*t programming, you will no longer care about the labels and judgment of others.
Now, let me be clear, you are always kind, compassionate, and respectful to the ones who judge you, but you remain steadfast to your mission and do not waiver from your ultimate goal of freedom and “enlightenment.”

All the labels and lectures you will receive are just a reflection of things that other humans need to process. For example, loads of people judge my barefootedness. I intuitively know that they are just living as they have been programmed and truly don’t know it’s okay not to wear shoes. No judgment here for them, only love.
As you continue your journey, you will come to a place where you embrace your uniqueness and realize it is a gift. Firstly, to yourself because you no longer have to put on those masks and play roles you disdain. You are FREE to get up in the morning and just be unapologetically YOU!
Secondly, your uniqueness and being a disruptor serves as a beautiful contrast to others humans. When you show up as your True Self, this may illustrate a deep dissonance that is festering within them. You may be just the trigger they need to heal some of their own drama and trauma.
