First of all, I won’t tell you how to do that. Sorry, not sorry! But seriously, embrace your humanity! You have a full spectrum of emotions; welcome all of them in your life.
Wisdom Nugget
It is a common misconception that “spiritual people,” or “Peeps on the Path,” as I call them, are always positive. They always smile, and their farts smell like roses, right?….Uh, Nope! They choose to feel all their human emotions and learn from every situation.
Therefore, it’s OK to be pissed off and allow that emotion to flow through you. We have been so programmed from a very young age not to feel all of our emotions.
Take a few moments, and reflect upon what you were told or how you were treated when you were a child.
What happened when:
- You got angry and yelled?
- You pouted and scowled?
- You cried because things weren’t going your way.?
- You threw a temper tantrum or a hissy fit (Yes, I have.)
But I digress. Chances are you, too, were stifled, and you were encouraged not to feel certain emotions. They were off-limits, taboo, shunned, and discouraged. So, do you think I will encourage you to be artificially cheerful and positive when you miss a target? F*ck NO!
I’m not your mama, your grandma, or your Aunt Thelma. I am not going to tell you to “Grow up. Don’t be angry. Suck it up, buttercup.” Here’s what I suggest:
- Feel it all.
- Allow those emotions to flow through you.
- Find healthy ways to process what you are feeling.
- Choose to learn from every person and situation
- Then, chuck it in the “F*ck-it Bucket” and move on!
Stop being so hard on yourself. Searching for ways to be positive when you are pissed. Anger is just one hue on the full spectrum of emotions.
