Mother Nature always gives us examples of what we really are.
Are you listening?
Are you noticing?
Are you learning?
Recently, while out on a beach stroll, I glanced down and noticed this beautiful marbleized pattern of bi-colored sand. And I was immediately given this wisdom nugget for you:
Do you think the black sand judges the tan sand?
Do you think the tan sand thinks it’s better than the black sand? Of course not!
They do not judge one another; they love one another.
They provide contrast to each other so their beauty can shine.
Alright, you may be thinking, “Laura, Great, you saw black and brown sand; how can that help me?”
Here’s how! Come into Awareness and notice the moment you judge someone else because they are different than you. (I know we here at Shh do not judge folks by the color of their skin, but we are still judging.) Let’s explore the concept of a “Judgment Umbrella.”
Oh, the tangled web we weave when our human self pops open the “Judgment Umbrella.” In that very second, we unwittingly grant permission for segregation and separation to flourish. We forget the essence of our True Self, our soul, our spirit, which knows no boundaries or divisions.
Everyone’s “Judgment Umbrella” is unique and is the direct result of how your human was programmed and conditioned. You may not be judging your fellow humans by the color of their skin, but are you judging them in some of these areas:
- Their appearance: Middle-Aged, spunky lady walks into a restaurant barefoot. WTF? Where are her shoes? She’s crazy!
- Their Education: Oh, so and so has a blah, blah, blah degree from such-and-such.
- Their Employment Status: Generation (fill in a letter) is so lazy.
- Their Behavior: Christ on Cracker, people have no manners anymore. I raised my kids this way, blah, blah, blah!
These are just a few of the potential segments of a “Judgment Umbrella.” What does yours look like? Gosh, don’t be embarrassed or ashamed; we all have one.
I invite you to come into Awareness and contemplate when you pop open that “Judgement Umbrella.” Hell, maybe you’re not even popping it open but blatantly using it as an energetic weapon against someone who is different that YOU.
Come and share your experience. I will share as well. Yes, I still judge, but with Awareness and the willingness to learn, to challenge, and to change my human.
In closing, Mother Nature constantly provides us with examples of unity, acceptance, and unconditional love. Just like the diverse colors of the sand on a beach, she demonstrates to us that differences should not be a cause for judgment or separation, but an opportunity for all beauty to shine. Isn’t time for us to listen, notice, and learn from these lessons?
Thank you for coming together with me on this journey of self-reflection. With each step we take towards letting go of judgment, we create a world where unity, peace, and unconditional love prevail.
