The TRUTH about Machu Picchu

Be Careful What’s on Your Bucket List: Could It Be Just Your Programming?

Hey, beautiful souls! I’m out here traveling and exploring Peru. Before any of you haters get your panties in a twist, let me set this straight – it’s a conscious choice. I don’t own a house. I don’t own a car. I’ve got few belongings and I’m traveling South America with a backpack and a carry-on. And let’s be real: Since I’ve shared so much of my bullsh*t programming, I’m traveling light – not just in my luggage, but in my emotional baggage as well.

Anyway, I wanted to share a recent experience. I just returned from Machu Picchu. Yeah, f*cking A, right? This spot has been on my bucket list for decades, and I know it’s on a lot of people’s lists too. But here’s the kicker – what I realized during this trip was that having Machu Picchu on my bucket list was just part of my programming. Yup, I was programmed to believe, “You gotta go to Machu Picchu; it’s the thing to do.”

My Honest Machu Picchu Experience

But here’s my unfiltered truth. Sure, Machu Picchu is stunning. The views are jaw-dropping. But here’s what they don’t tell you: It’s been marketed to be on your bucket list. It’s part of that same programming that tells you what’s important.

Now, don’t get me wrong – I’m not here to tell you what to do or not do. That’s not my style. But I will be honest about my experience. The entire trip is highly controlled and expensive as hell. You have to book tickets months in advance, and the system feels like it is designed to make you opt for expensive tours. The whole process tested my patience, and honestly, my inner badass. Every part of the journey from buying tickets, to getting to Agua Calientes (the little tourist trap town you stay in), to boarding a train and bus—it’s all built to herd you like cattle. And shake as much money as possible out of you along the way.

Even the much-touted Vistadome train experience, which I totally bought into, ended up being a loud touristy vibe that wasn’t my jam. All this just to get to Machu Picchu!

A Wake-Up Call Amid the Chaos

By the time I stood in line again to actually enter the site, I couldn’t help but ask myself, “At what cost?” I was surrounded by hundreds of people, most of them completely asleep – glued to their phones, snapping the ‘perfect’ pic for socials, missing the actual experience of where they were.

This trip became a mirror for me – a reflection of how deeply asleep humanity still is and a wake-up call to my own triggers and programming. The lines, the people, the rules (Oh my f*cking God, the rules)- it all tested me in ways I didn’t expect.

Wisdom Nugget

But here’s the Wisdom Nugget for you: What’s on your bucket list? Could it just be part of your programming? Machu Picchu was for me. And honestly, now that I’ve done it, I wouldn’t do it again. There’s so much more in Peru to explore without the lines, without the mob of people. Sites like Sacsayhuamán and Pisac will blow your mind without all the touristy bullsh*t.

So, take a good look at your bucket list. Is it really your True Self talking? Or is it your programming?

I want you to live your best life, aligned with your True Self. And Souls Healing Humanity is all about giving you the Holistic Scaffolding™ to shed your programming and live a life designed for you by YOU!

I love all you people!
